Voice not supported error:

If you receive the error message, the modem does not support voice, then you either do not have a voice modem or the driver for the voice modem is not Tapi compliant.

You must either purchase a new modem or if you know you have a voice modem you can contact the manufacture to see if a new driver is available or use the Internet to search for a new driver.

You may also try one of the voice modem drivers that come with Windows.

Try to select one that closely matches your modem.

Failure to hang up after recording a message:

If you notice that your modem is not hanging up when the caller has left a message and hang-up the phone. The Silence Detection is set to low for your modem.

To correct the problem go to Options, Silence Detection and move to a higher number. I have tried several modems and had to set the Silence Detection as high as 1000.

You can tell if the Silence Detection is working properly by watching the Recording Message status at the top of the phone. Have someone call and leave a short message 10 or 12 words, then when the caller hangs up you should see recording finished. If it continues to show recording message it will record for 3 minutes and then will automatically hang up.

Another way to tell if it is not hanging up properly is when you play back a new message and you hear the caller hang-up and after a long silence you hear your phone dial and the recording " If you would like to make a call please hang-up and try again.

Answer machine will not record a message:

If the Speaker Phone seems to be working properly, but the answering machine will not record a message then the modem wave driver for your modem is not Tapi compliant. You need to contact the modem manufacturer and request an updated modem driver.

Caller cannot hear me talk:

You must have a separate microphone plugged into the microphone jack of your modem.

Modem Compatibility:

Modems with Rockwell or US Robotics - 3Com chipsets work best.

Application Error (Error Reading Voice1.ModeName):

Interface mismatch. Engine version is different.

If you receive any of these errors do the following.

Go to the folder where the program is installed. Usually "c:\program files\RLS\Speaker Phone Plus" . Open the folder Support then Double Click on the file "msttsf22L.EXE". If you are prompted to overwrite a newer file select no . This will install the correct voice engine to your computer and should solve your problem.
